CARTHAGE - Steven P. Rogers, 57, 222 State St., died Monday afternoon at his residence, under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Steve was the oldest of six children; he was born in Carthage on December 10, 1957, the son of Herbert E. & Constanace I. McDermid Rogers. He attended Carthage Central High School and was employed by the Town of Wilna Housing Authority in the Maintenance Department. He enjoyed camping and was an avid race fan, including firematics races. He was active with the VFW Men's Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion, both in Carthage.
He is survived by his companion of the last 11 years, Terry Blackwell, as well as his children; Lorie Anne Medina, Steven Paul Rogers, Jr., Rebecca Lynne Rogers and Betsy Lynne Rogers. Also surviving are his siblings; Gregory Rogers, Ralph Rogers, Charles (Brenda) Rogers, Clarenda (Terry) Krake and Toni (Douglas) Keisster, along with 5 grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Steve is predeceased by his parents, who both died in 1989, his Uncle Thomas McDermid, Aunt Phyllis McDermid, Sister in Law, Brenda Rogers, cousin Jeanne Smith and Grandson, Damian Grimm.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Thursday. www.lundyfuneralhome.com
