The Funeral Service will follow the Calling Hours at 6:00 pm in the Chapel with the Rev. Canon Samuel P. Lundy, officiating. A burial will take place in the spring at the Fairview Cemetery.

Ruth was born January 7th, 1934, in Carthage, NY, the daughter of the late Robert “Bob” and Erma (Perrigo) Christman. After high school graduation she worked at the Fargo Inn in 1952, Harding’s Soda Fountain, Carthage Hospital on State Street, and then later at the Carthage Area Hospital.

She married Robert J. Brady, the couple had three children. She later married Clinton D. Loomis, they had a son together, both marriages ended in divorce.

Ruth is survived by her children, Robin (Lonnie) Arndt, Molly Kell, Peggy Brady, and Bert Loomis, all of Carthage, NY. A brother, Ross Christman, Carthage.

She is also survived by her beloved dog and companion, Hanna.

She is also survived by four grandchildren, Roy (Erin) Arndt, Jaymie (Joe) Wiley, Ross (Tamara) Arndt, and Jacob (Erika) Raymond; great-grandchildren Samantha, Seamus, Jakey, Emma, Alex, Jack, and Ellen; and several special nieces and nephews for whom she would do absolutely anything!

She is predeceased by her parents, and her beloved brother, George Christman.

Ruth was incredibly active in her family’s lives. She attended all her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and loved watching them play ball. Her daughter, Robin, and she enjoyed Christian coffee houses with Friends of God; her daughter, Molly, would take her for frequent joyrides, which included yearly trips 'around the horn,' as well as a visit here and there to the casino. Everyone knew Ruth as the kind of person who would do anything for anybody, affectionately known as “everybody’s grandma”.

In addition to her devoted involvement in her family’s lives, Ruth was also heavily involved in many events held by the Jefferson County Office of the Aging, most notably the yearly senior picnic. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Going for car rides with her dog, Hanna, was just one of the many ways Ruth enjoyed spending her time when she wasn’t with her family. Ruth loved to go shopping, one of her favorite stores was the “Dollar Store”, she loved a good bargain! Her daughter, Peggy, enjoyed her time with her at Sunday dinners, at the lake, and shopping at garage sales; and her son, Bert, got to go fishing with her all over the north country. She was loved and will be dearly missed by so many; she truly held a place in everyone’s heart who had the honor of knowing her.

Per the family’s request and in lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Northern Regional Center for Independent Living, 210 Court Street, Watertown, NY 13601
