Roscoe W. Bowen

WATERTOWN - Roscoe Ward "Skip" Bowen passed away peacefully with his loving wife Vernita (Suzy) by his side on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Samaritan Medical Center. Skip was born in Cooperstown, NY August 17, 1941 and graduated from Boonville Central School. He worked as a laborer throughout his life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and outdoor activities. Always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors, he also loved to joke and laugh - and was known for his friendly wink. Skip lived in Lisbon, Connecticut after high school, but returned to New York later in life and eventually married Vernita "Suzy" Shampine on July 22, 1995. They were kindred spirits - both spirited and feisty, and truly adored one another. The couple most recently resided in Watertown. Skip is survived by his brother Nelson and his wife Patsy Bowen; his children, Brian Bowen, Brenda Chalecki, Beverly Gionet, Beth Jepsen, Betty Weseman, Corey Bowen, Chad Bowen, Michael Bowen; as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his mother, Ruth (Huestis) Cooper, his sister Rosamond DeVoe, and his sons Bruce Bowen and Bradley Bowen. Due to the ongoing pandemic, no public services will be held at this time.
