ALEXANDRIA BAY Robert George Shepard, 80, formerly of Walton St., passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 24, 2019 at Hospice of Jefferson County.
Robert was born on September 1, 1939 in Rochester, NY, a son to the late George and Jean (Tomczak) Shepard. Robert graduated high school in Rochester, NY and went on to work at Eastman Kodak as a production worker.
On April 8, 1961, Robert married Carol Welsh in Rochester, NY.
Robert had a love for the St. Lawrence River and the town of Alexandria Bay. He was a volunteer fireman for the Alexandria Bay Fire Department. He loved collecting Hess Trucks. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; two children, Joe (Amanda) Shepard, Amherst, NY; Lisa Shepard, Port St. Lucy, FL; two nieces, Debbie (Rod) Heale; Donna Visco; a nephew, David Paprocki; a great-nephew, Steven Visco; 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Tristin, Cole and Chase Shepard.
Robert is predeceased by his twin sister, Roberta.
Memorial Donations in Roberts name may be made out to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY 13601 or the Alexandria Bay Fire Department, 110 Walton Street, Alexandria Bay NY 13607.
A Catholic Mass will be held on October 12, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. Cyrils Catholic Church, 26 Walton St, Alexandria Bay, NY 13607 with Rev. Douglas Comstock officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Northridge Cremation Chapel, 31291 Town Line Road, Philadelphia, owned and operated by Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc.
