CHAMPION – Rita Ann Sixberry, 79, passed away peacefully in the early evening on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024, at the Carthage Area Hospital. She was born on October 9, 1944, in West Carthage, to the late Royce & Angeline (Bango) Carr. She attended school in Natural Bridge.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 5th, 2024, from 12:00pm-2:00pm at the Lundy Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State Street, Carthage. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00pm in the Lundy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Canon Samuel P. Lundy, officiating. A reception will follow at the Harrisville Fire Hall. Burial will take place on Monday, October 28th, 2024, at 11:00am in the Hillside Cemetery in Champion, NY where Rita and Clyde will be laid to rest together on their Wedding Anniversary.
Rita married Clyde E. Sixberry on October 28th, 1962, in Harrisville, they were married for 57 years, Clyde passed away in 2019. She was primarily a homemaker and did childcare out of her home for 30 years.
She is survived by her children, eldest son, Clyde Sixberry Jr., Watertown; and his companion, Barb; Keith Sixberry and his wife Cindy, Carthage; Randy Sixberry and his wife Kim, Potsdam; Nanette Ramsey and her husband Greg; Lafargeville; Jeff Sixberry and his wife Darlene, Harrisville; Shawn Sixberry and his companion Becca, Harrisville; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her siblings, John, Charlie, Theda, Roggie, Judy, Brenda, Leroy, Dianne, Angela, Barbara, Anna, and Phillip, along with numerous nieces and nephews; and a great number of friends who she loved and considered family.
She was an avid book collector, she enjoyed scrapbooking and crafts. She was a phenomenal cook and was known for her “famous spaghetti”. She also loved hosting holidays, spending time with her family which is still a tradition that started 34 years ago by the Carr family.
She is predeceased by her parents, and her husband, Clyde Sixberry.
