CARTHAGE - Richard "Dick" A. Spencer, 60, died early Monday morning, June 8, 2015 at the home of his sister, Shirley Cook, on the Pennock Rd. He had been under the car of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Born in Carthage on March 3, 1955, the son of Harold & Beatrice Bishop Spencer; he is a graduate of Carthage Central High School. He served in the United States Navy as a Poseidon Nuclear Missile Technician from 1979-1989. He then worked as an electrician for various contractors in the local area.
Dick is survived by his siblings; Shirley Cook, Carthage, Clifford "Cubby" Spencer, Carthage, Carol Workman, Carthage, Catherine Bent, Maryland and Sheila Tripp, California and his half-brother, John Spencer, Elmira.
He is predeceased by his siblings; Mary Taylor, Robert Spencer, Ronald Spencer, Burton "Butch" Spencer, his half-brother, Carlos Spencer, his half - sister, Philoman Harris and his step father, Pete Luther.
A funeral service with Military Honors will be held in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage on Friday, June 12 at 6:00 PM with visitation being held for two hours prior to the service, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. Burial will take place on Saturday at 11:00 AM in Sunnyside Cemetery, Great Bend. www.lundyfuneralhome.com
