CARTHAGE - Richard V. Hutchins, 82, of 25786 Crowner Rd., died on March 17, 2015 at the Samaritan Medical Center.
Richard was born on December 29, 1932 in New Bremen, NY to Arthur & Adah (Vary) Hutchins. He attended Carthage High School.
He worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, for 30 years in East Hartford, Connecticut as a Pipefitter/Plumber. He retired from Pratt & Whitney's in 1996 & then the couple moved back to Carthage.
He served in the United States Army from 1950-1953.
He married Phyllis Shaw on January 30, 1954 at St. James Catholic Church in Carthage.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, Carthage; and 6 children; Donald R. & Janice Hutchins, Colchester, CT; David W. Hutchins and his companion Ann-Marie Langley, Portland, CT; Laurie &Mark Winter, Port Charlotte, FL; Ronald L. & De-Anne Hutchins, Colchester, CT; Elaine &Gary Tredor, Colchester, CT; Sally &Jean Fauteux, Lebanon, CT; one brother, Gary Hutchins, Carthage. He is also survived by 14- grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Dickey, who died in 2004; and three brothers, Robert, Arthur Jr., and John.
Richard was known for playing pranks, telling jokes, quick wit, and his smiling face. He loved fishing, hunting, and riding his ATV with his family and friends.
Calling hours will be held Friday, March 20th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 500 State St. Carthage, NY. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 10:00am in the Chapel of the Funeral Home with Deacon Staab, officiating.
