CARTHAGE, N.Y. - Ray R. Campany Jr., 73, of 34711 Route 26, died Sunday, July 5, at his residence.
Born Jan. 10, 1942, in Lowville, the son of Raymond& Lucille Terry Campany, Sr., he graduated from Beaver Falls High School with the Class of 1959. He then served in the United States Army until 1967.
He married Nancy E. Rushlow on June 16, 1964 at the First Baptist Church in Carthage.
Ray worked as a machinist and supervisor for the Dynapower and Stratopower divisions of the New York Air Brake in Watertown for over 30 years.
Mr. Campany was a member of the National Rifle Association; an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved to go bowling and was a talented woodworker.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Nancy; his children and their spouses, Jeffery and Marcia Campany, Carthage, Mark and Marie Campany, Sarasota, Florida, Robin and Clint Barlow, Carthage and Adam Campany and his companion, Angela Lusher, Adams, NY; his siblings and their spouses, John and Angie Campany, Watertown, Gary and Marsha Campany, Watertown, Barb and Ray Higby, Lowville and Carol Snyder, Carthage; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a great-grandchild.
A graveside committal service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, in New St. James Cemetery, Carthage, with the Rev. Samuel P. Lundy officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage.
