GREAT BEND - Paul G. Stiles, 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, February 7, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family, under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.
Paul was born on November 4, 1928 to Rev. Harry E. Stiles and Gladys Clark Stiles of Kendrew. Paul attended Rensselaer Falls High School. After graduation, Paul joined the Army. He was deployed to Germany with the Occupational Forces and worked as a Decoder Operator. Paul and his brothers, Everest and Keith, started EK&P Stiles where they worked in the construction field and purchased property and/or antiques. The brothers split up the business with Paul keeping the construction and Keith going on to form Stiles Auction House. Paul and family relocated in 1983 and started Great Bend Construction with his two sons, Brent and Chris.
Paul married his childhood sweetheart Betty Manford on June 21, 1952. He is survived by his wife, Betty and children, Kim Stiles, Shelley (Randall) Stevens, Christopher Stiles and Brent Stiles. His oldest daughter Denise (Michael) Streeter, died in May 2015. He is also predeceased by 5 sisters and 5 brothers. He is survived by a brother Harry Stiles of Rensselaer Falls, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 4-7pm at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 500 State St., Carthage, NY. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 11:00am at the Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church in Great Bend, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church in Great Bend.
