NATURAL BRIDGE: Norma Stuyvesant, 94, of 27423 Backus Road, died on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

 Born in West Hartlepool, County of Durham, Great Britain, on April 11, 1930, she was educated in Wembley, a suburb of London, where the family moved due to her father’s employment. Norma served in the Land Army and then went into the Women’s Royal Air Force. 

 She was married to Peter Stuyvesant on October 28, 1950. The couple moved to the United States in 1955, where they raised their five children. 

 Norma was active in the PTO at Natural Bridge Elementary where her children attended. She was a member of the United Methodist Church where she helped with the Youth Group, participated in the Women’s Group, attended Bible studies, and worked at church suppers. She volunteered at the Carthage Food Pantry, was on a women’s bowling league in Carthage, and was a member of the Red Hats. She devoted her life to her husband and family and loved spending time with them most of all.

 Norma is survived by her children and their respective spouses:

Paul & Zeline Stuyvesant of Natural Bridge, Debbie Christy & Don Maroney of Canton, Lisa & Robert Dionne of Ormond Beach, Florida, and Susan & Brent Swanson of Natural Bridge. Also surviving are her grandchildren and their respective spouses: Andrea Stuyvesant of Georgia, Marie & James O’Connor of Natural Bridge, Lachlan & Bri Dionne of Astoria, NY, Kevin Dionne & Scarlet Basler of Gainesville, Florida, Andrew Swanson and Abigail Swanson, both of Natural Bridge. Her surviving great-grandchildren are Calie O’Connor, Kane O’Connor, Paislee Swanson, and Graham Swanson.

 Norma was predeceased by her husband Peter Stuyvesant, her son Peter Stuyvesant, her parents, in-laws, and a brother-in-law.

 Donations may be made in Norma’s memory to the Natural Bridge United Methodist Church 41964 County Route 41 Ridge Road Natural Bridge, NY 13665 or the Natural Bridge Volunteer Ambulance 27570 High St. Natural Bridge, NY 13665.

 Arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St. Carthage. A Celebration of Life at the United Methodist Church and her burial in Hillside Cemetery, in Natural Bridge will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.lundyfuneralhome.com.
