Nancy E. Johnson

Carthage- Nancy E. Johnson, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County. 

She was born on July 31, 1944, in Carthage, New York to the late George R. & Katherine (Borland) Butts. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1962. Nancy married Kenneth H. Johnson in Carthage in 1963.

She retired as the housekeeping manager of Carthage Area Hospital after 35 years of dedicated service.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Kenneth H. Johnson, Carthage; her children, a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Jr. and Kelly Johnson of Carthage, her son Ryan Johnson and his companion Diane O'Meara of Carthage, a sister, Jeanette (Lawrence) Kerr, Syracuse, a daughter-in-law, Donna Johnson, Fort Myers, Florida, along with many special grandchildren, Kenneth C. Johnson, Kelsey Leigh Triviso, and Kaden Michael Johnson, and great-grandchildren, Paisley Olivia Triviso, Everly Grace Dermady, Graysen Axel Dermady, and Hadley Parker Johnson.

Nancy was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed gardening, attending family reunions and picnics, spending time with her family and her little kitty cat, she also loved her yearly trips to Florida.

She is predeceased by an infant son, Gary Johnson, a daughter, Leilani Johnson, who passed in 2020 and recently her son Carl Robert Johnson who died in 2024. Her siblings, Arlene Files, Jack Butts, Blanche Miles, Luella Card, Judy Miracle, and Richard “Dick” Butts.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the family's convenience at a later date.
