COPENHAGEN - Michael P. Mahar, 31, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 after a long battle with illness.
Michael was born in Lowville, New York on August 23, 1987 to Patrick F. and Diane M. (Turck) Mahar. He graduated from Copenhagen Central in 2006 and went onto attend Mohawk Valley Community College. He was employed by Walmart for a short period of time until he was no longer able to work due to complications from his illness.
Mikey was an avid reader and Xbox gamer. He enjoyed spending time with good friends, playing cards and in their words, was a fantasy football legend. He was always up for a good debate with those who were up for the challenge.
Family was very important to him. He especially loved spending time with his nieces and nephew, Aaliyah, Bella and Connor. He had many close friends who were more like family to him too.
He is survived by his parents, Patrick and Diane of Copenhagen; two brothers, Matthew and his daughter Aaliyah Mahar of Brighton, TN; Stephen Mahar and his fiance Jordan Dickson and her children, Bella and Connor of Copenhagen; a sister, Sarah Mahar of Copenhagen; a maternal grandfather, Kevin Turck as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins in the United States and Germany.
He is predeceased by his maternal Oma, Elfriede (Friede) Fleischmann Turck as well as his paternal grandparents, George and Virginia Mahar.
We, as Mikeys family, would like to extend our sincere thanks to all who supported him during this long illness. He loved and appreciated everything. A special thanks to all the doctors and nurses and medical staff who worked hard over the years to accommodate us and all the health professionals who cared for Mikey all these years.
