LOWVILLE- Matthew J. Bigness, 58, formerly of Carthage, died peacefully on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, New York with his loving family at his side. He was born on April 3, 1966, in Carthage to the late Clark & Doris Bigness. 

A Graveside Service will be held privately by his family in the Fairview Cemetery in Carthage, NY.

Matt graduated from Carthage High School in 1984, after high school he enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. Matthew was currently a respite care provider. In his earlier years, he worked for T.F. Wright's in Carthage setting monuments. He married Jacey Lynn Gibeau on July 14, 1990, at the First Baptist Church in Carthage.

He is survived by his wife, Jacey Gibeau-Bigness, Carthage; his children, Anthony (Jessica) Bigness, West Carthage; David (Brandy) Bigness, Ellenburg Center; Kaitlin Bigness, West Carthage; Trinity Bigness & her companion, Levi Petrie, Croghan; Elizabeth Bigness, Ellenburg Center; and Jack Elliott, Carthage; a brother Michael (Cheryl) Baker, West Carthage; along with his two grandchildren, Ella & Sawyer Bigness and one on the way, baby Matthew.

Matt was very family-oriented and enjoyed spending time with them, he loved watching movies, listening to music, and fishing with his son.
