Copenhagen- Mary L. Greenwood, 87, of the Roberts Road, died Wednesday afternoon on October 24, 2018 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peters Hospital in Albany, New York with her loving daughter by her side. She was born on May 2, 1931 in Champion, New York to Merritt & Helena Fitzgerald Waite. She attended school in Champion, New York.
She married Robert Greenwood on May 15, 1952 in Deer River. She was primarily a homemaker.
She is survived by several children: two sons; Tom and his wife Kathy, Black River; Dan his wife Tara, New Hampshire. Four daughters; Kristine and her husband Jerry Koepsell, Watertown; Ellen Apicerno, Connecticut; Suzanne Greenwood, Alaska; and Julie and Clifford Smith, Copenhagen a daughter in law Janey Greenwood, Oklahoma.
She is survived by several sisters, Sarah (William) Walsemann, Carthage; Irene Astafan, Florida; Ellen (Jim) Remington, Glenfield; Helen (Joseph) Morisette and Martha (Patrick) McCarthy, of Cape Vincent. She is also survived by several brothers, Herbert (Jan), Black River; Duane (Ada) & Ernie (Gina), Watertown; John (June), Florida; George (Rochelle), Carthage; Paul, Castorland; David, Castorland and Jerry (Mike), Georgia. She is also survived by 16-granchildren and several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Robert F. Bob Greenwood in 2010; a son Carl Greenwood and a daughter, Cheryl Ann Bergquist and sisters, Evelyn & Carol and several brothers, Kenneth, Harold and Howard A. (Doc) Waite; two sister- in- laws; Shirley Johnson & Evelyn Myers and a brother -in-law Everett Greenwood.
She enjoyed sewing, baking, reading, and she especially loved her grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on November 1, 2018 from 1:00pm-2:00pm at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm in the Chapel of the Funeral Home with the Pastor David Frank, officiating, pastor of the Calvary Assembly of God in Carthage. Burial will be held privately.
