CARTHAGE- Marjorie J. Ferguson, 89, formerly of Martin Street Road and 63 Madison Street died on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre where she had been a resident since 2011. She was born on May 11, 1927, the daughter of the Late Wesley & Helen Jackson Wisner. She graduated from Beaver Falls High School as the Salutatorian of the Class of 1945.
She married Harold E. Ferguson on May 2, 1946. Mr. Ferguson died on June 1, 1996.
She is survived by six children: Sally (Thomas) Bowie, Watertown; Harold (Terri) Ferguson, Troutville, Virginia; Bruce ( Michelle) Ferguson, Carthage; Wayne( JoAnn) Ferguson, Beaver Falls; Stanley (Marianne) Ferguson, Carthage; Thomas (Phyllis) Ferguson, Castorland;16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
She retired from Carthage Central School district after 25 years of service in the Cafeteria. She also worked many summers at Fort Drum in food service.
She was a member of the United Community Church in Carthage, where she was a Deacon and served on committees.
She enjoyed Christian Women's Luncheons in Carthage for many years, and hosted Bible Studies in her home. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Harold, she is predeceased by a brother, Robert Q. Wisner and a son-in-law Terry R. Coffman.
A Funeral Service will be held privately by the family, with The Reverend Jane Wagner, officiating. Burial will be held in the Union Free Cemetery, Naumburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the United Community Church in Carthage, the Carthage Food Pantry, or do an act of kindness for someone anonymously.
