WEST CARTHAGE- Margaret A. Burdick, 93, of 33 N. Broad Street, died on Tuesday morning, September 20, 2016 at her home.
She was born on March 20, 1923 in Lowville and attended a one room schoolhouse in Copenhagen.
Margaret, along with her husband, Elmer Burdick operated the family farm together for many years. She also raised Angora rabbits for over 50 years. Mr. Burdick died in 1986.
She is survived by a daughter, Peggy Burdick, Carthage; a brother, Ervin Buchael, Copenhagen and a sister, Rita Thesier, Carthage. She is predeceased by her son, Elmer, Jr. and her daughter, Patty Curran.
She was very active with the Jefferson County Fair, where she was the Rabbit Superintendent for over 40 years. She was in the 4H club when her children were younger and she loved spinning and crocheting.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 26th at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 500 State St., Carthage, with burial to follow in St. James Cemetery, Carthage. Visitation will be held on Monday for two hours prior to the service, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
