CARTHAGE, N.Y. - John W. "Rebby" Rebb, 54, of 22456 Alexandria St., Carthage, died Friday evening, Sept. 25, due to injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident in the town of Rutland.
For those of you who knew Rebby, his passions were work, his motorcycle, his friends, and his children and grandchildren. He was an amazing man who would give the shirt off of his back to help anyone in need.
He was a significant part of the Carthage community, and will be missed by all.
Born May 13, 1961, in Lowville, the son of James A. Rebb, Sr. and Mary E. Swem Rebb, he graduated from Carthage Central High School with the Class of 1980.
He married Charlotte A. Nickles at the Church of the Nazarene, in Carthage, on Oct. 1, 1983.
He worked for Champion Materials in various capacities for the last 33 years.
He was a member of the Carthadians Motorcycle Club, a benevolent member of the West Carthage Fire Department, the St. Regis Hunting Club, the Sons of the American Legion, and the Carthage Elks Lodge BPOE #1762.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Rebb, Carthage, his companion, Joanne Chamberlain, Black River; a daughter and her partner, Amber Rebb and Ciji Whitfield, Carthage; his sons and their wives, Travis and Sara Nickles, Carthage, and Troy and Michelle Nickles, Theresa; brothers, Edmund Rebb and companion Sue Trombley, James "Spanky" Rebb, Carthage; a sister, Valerie Rebb Compo and husband, Oliver, Carthage; a sister-in-law, Tammey Rebb and companion, Ron Breton, Natural Bridge; a brother-in-law, Paul Nickles and his wife Barb, Grandview, IN; several nieces and nephews; his grandchildren, Jacob and Derek Nickles, Justin and Jacob Wise, Dillan and Jenna Nickles, Taylor and Cristina Palladino, Payton Nickles, Noah "Bud Man," Kadin "Boots", &Venus Burnup, Devin "Diggler" Stanford, Roslyn Leutung, JD & Madison Uhlinger, as well as a great-grandson, Preston "Pretzel" Palladino.
Calling hours will be held 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. Burial will be held privately by the family. There will be a celebration of Life held noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Carthage Elks Lodge #1762.
