WATERTOWN Lloyd J. Pokey Rhone, 78, of 15915 Eimicke Place, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Hospice House of Jefferson County.
Lloyd was born in Lyonsdale, New York on April 26, 1941, son of the late Chester S. and Mabel E. (Meery) Rhone. In 1959 he graduated from Port Leyden Central School. Mr. Rhone served in the Marines from 1959 to 1964. He worked in the local farming industry for several years, at Crown Zellerbach and the New York Air Brake, retiring from Mercy Hospital in 1998.
On February 4, 1967 he married Genevieve M. Rushlow at the Carthage Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Edward VanderHey officiating.
Lloyd enjoyed various activities such as hunting, salmon fishing, bowling, golfing, gardening and playing cards. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Genevieve; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Ann and Allen Jay Storey of Watertown; Kimberly Jean and Darren Call of Rodman; Rebecca Sue and Pat Corcoran of Oakland, FL; a son and daughter-in-law, Samuel Lloyd and Kreshelle Rhone of Fayetteville, GA; a sister and brother-in-law, Vicky and Dave Green of Lowville; a niece, Sheila Harris of Boonville; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lloyd is predeceased by his parents, Chester and Mabel Mae Rhone, as well as three brothers, Phillip, Floyd and James Rhone, and three sisters, Linda, Barbara and Donna Rhone.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 1-4 PM at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 3, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Hillside Cemetery, West Carthage.
