Linda Brand

Carthage- Linda M. Brand, 69, of State Route 3, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2018 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.
Linda was born on March 16, 1949 in Theresa, NY, a daughter of the late Edwin D. and Doris A. (Kilbourn) Dusharm. She attended Carthage Central School. She worked as a waitress in her younger years at various restaurants from California to New York. She also worked as a custodian and most recently she was employed as the Supervisor of the Mess Hall on Fort Drum.
On November 5, 1965, Linda married Charles J. Atnip in Woodhall, Illinois. He died in December of 1967.
On June 13, 1981, she married George Brand Sr. in Carthage, NY.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, George; a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Atnip and her companion, Kathy Black, Lafargeville; a son, Duane (Denise) Smith, Evans Mills; two step sons, Robert W. (Andrea) Brand, Van Buren, AK; George Brand Jr., Van Buren, AK; two brothers, David C. Dusharm, Black River, NY; Lawrence Dusharm, Carthage, NY; a sister, Mary Sheltray, Carthage, NY; as well as four grandchildren, Nathanial, Diantha, Desiree Smith and Dustin Brand.
She is predeceased by her stepson, Michael Allen Brand and a brother, Robert Dusharm Sr.
Linda enjoyed animals and gardening. She especially loved her cats, Missy, Zoey, Little Guy, Baby, Chloe and Max.
A calling hour will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 11:00 AM 12:00 PM at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. A Memorial Service will immediately follow in the Chapel at 12:00 PM with Rev. Wayne Arnold officiating.
