LAWRENCE (LARRY) A. GILCRIS
Lawrence (Larry) A. Gilcris, 64, of Natural Bridge, NY died on March 6, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester NY from heart failure.
Larry was born in Hardwick, VT on August 14, 1950. He was the son of Erwin and May Gilcris, he graduated from Hardwick Academy, and went on to join the U.S. Army where he retired after serving 20 years. Larry performed as a Material Control and Accounting Supervisor and served in Desert Storm where he was awarded the Southwest Asia Service Medal and Kuwait Liberation Medal. Larry then went on to continue his service to his country by working as a Department of the Army Civilian at Fort Drum from January 1993 until his retirement in February 2013 as a Physical Security Specialist.
Larry is survived by his wife, Ann Ryan Gilcris, and children, Matthew Gilcris of Barton, VT; Christian Gilcris, Wiliamstown, VT; Louise (Calvin) Barnes, Hardwick, VT; Linda Gilcris, Craftsbury, VT; one brother, Erwin (Bobbe) Gilcris, Hardwick, VT; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandsons, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Edmund, a sister, Evaden, and a son, Erwin James.
Larry loved his family, work, country, hunting white tailed deer, and especially putting his big green machine to work. He was in his "Glory" when he and his John Deere could help out neighbors with the plowing, mowing, or whatever else that needed to be done.
Larry was a member of the American Legion Post #904, Alexandria Bay.
Calling hours will be held from 1-2PM on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. located at 500 State Street., Carthage. A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM in the Chapel of the funeral home with The Reverend Roger Mono, officiating.
