Laddie Ernest Martin

CARTHAGE - Laddie Martin, 88, Texas Rd., died January 3, 2017 while spending the winter at his home in Deltona, Florida.
Born in Watertown on October 21, 1928, the son of Ernest & Gladys Fowler Martin. He married Patricia Prievo on November 5, 1950. Mrs. Martin died in 1991. Laddie retired from the James River Paper Corporation after many years of service. He enjoyed his winters in Deltona, Florida and summers in Carthage. He spent time fishing and doing woodworking after retirement. At the time of his death, he was living with his longtime companion, Elda Chisamore.
Mr. Martin is survived by his two children and their spouses; Randee & Lawrence (Bo) Bailey and Tracey & Barry Steinberg. He was also blessed with 5 grandchildren; Shawn (Jess) Bailey, Nichole (Jason) Sweeny, Adrianne (Robert) Amell, Angela (David) Hopkins and Ashley Trimm (Mark Fregoe) and 12 great grandchildren; Jared Bailey, Gabrielle Kackison, Mason Bailey, Tyler and Justin Sweeny, Tanner, Emmy and Robbie Amell, Hannah, Ethan and Andrew Hopkins and Samara Fregoe. Also surviving are his siblings; Edward, Charles, Clisty, Delores and Diane.
He is predeceased by his wife, Patricia, both parents and his siblings, Donald, Cecil, Bonnie and Sally.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is at peace now; we love you Dad.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, there will be no public calling hours. Laddie will be buried in the spring with his loving wife, Patricia, in the Fairview Cemetery, Carthage.
