COPENHAGEN
Hollis Clark Scoville, 80, of Stoddard St., passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at St. Elizabeths Medical Center in Utica after a brief stay due to a heart attack.
Hollis was born in Carthage, New York on January 22, 1938, a son of the late Niles Wesley and Doris Evelyn (Hurlbut) Scoville. He attended Beaver Falls Central School. He worked various jobs including Gambles Distributors, Inc. and driving bus for Copenhagen Central School before purchasing a Dairy Farm in Champion. He also had a trucking business.
He married Arlene Lanpher, and together the couple had two children, Vicki and Vernon. The marriage later ended in divorce. He later married Ruth Stackel, and together they had a daughter, Nichole. That marriage later ended in divorce.
Hollis is survived by his three children, Vicki (Kevin) Burns; Vernon (Mary Jane) Scoville; and Nichole Turck; two brothers, Earl and Niles Scoville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Judy Scoville.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Cottage Inn in Copenhagen. Per Hollis request, no other services will be held.
Hollis was an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Copenhagen Fire Department. He was a hard-working man who enjoyed snow sledding, NASCAR & watching The Price is Right. He also loved photography, and his beloved cat Misty.
