CARTHAGE, NY- Gwen Brockway, 91, of 40 N. Broad St., died August 10, 2016 under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.
Born on April 9, 1925 the daughter of Arthur J. & Agnes L. Birch Petersen in Brigham City, Utah. She attended high school in Utah. She married Victor C. Brockway, Sr., on August 17, 1945 in Carthage, NY, by the Rev. Howard A. Griswood. Victor passed away January 15, 1989.
Gwen is survived by one sister, Naugee Ann Welker, Phoenix, Arizona, her beloved niece and her husband, Connie & Louis Abel, Castorland and longtime special friend Nancy Fargo, Carthage. Also surviving are one grandaughter and her husband, Kimberly & Brian Myers, Powder Springs, Georgia, three great grandchildren; Chelsea Gordon, Dylan Myers and Caleb Brockway and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Victor Brockway, Sr., her son, Victor Brockway, Jr., 1998, infant son, Randy A. Brockway, 1957, five brothers and her grandson Bryan Brockway, 2005.
Gwen enjoyed Knitting, crocheting, baking and cooking.
A graveside service will be held 10:30 AM, Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Fairview Cemetery, Carthage, under the direction of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. www.lundyfuneralhome.com
