Lowville - Gordon Campany, 98, of State Route 26 passed away peacefully on July 16th, 2024 at his daughter’s home.

A public Calling Hour will take place at Lundy Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State Street, Carthage, on July 26th, 2024 from 1:30-2:30 pm. A Funeral Service will follow the Calling Hour at 2:30 pm in the Lundy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Little officiating.

He was born in Croghan, NY on August 8th, 1925 to the late John and Anna (Bush) Campany Verschneider. He attended Indian River School. Gordon worked for Boise Cascade in Beaver Falls for 37 years.

Gordon married Alice Arnold on October 14th, 1953, in Carthage. They were happily married for 70 years until her recent passing in January of 2024. 

As a true North Country man, Gordon was often found enjoying his time outdoors, hunting or fishing at his camp on Black Lake. He loved riding his pedal bike around town picking up cans. He was an avid member of the Assembly of God Church in Lowville, where he loved attending services with Alice and their children. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his children, Debora (Philip) Nortz of Martinsburg, and Terry Campany and his significant other, Judy of Lowville; six grandchildren, Christina Hellinger and her fiance Shawn Tiffany of Lowville, Jackie Barrows of Oxford, Charity Nortz and her fiancé, Jim Trainham II. of Glenfield, Mike (Elizabeth) Nortz of Knoxville, MD, Matt Nortz and his significant other, Erica Farney, of Glenfield, and Tyler Nortz and his fiance Vikki Sessions of Lowville; one step-grandson, Rob Campany; along with twelve great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Gordon is predeceased by his wife, Alice Campany, his parents, John and Anna; a brother, Harlan Campany; and his sisters, Margie Hall, Anita Bouchard, and Lagerssa Bartraw.
