Lowville - Forist Brockway Jr., 66, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2024, with his family by his side.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 11 am-1 pm at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 500 State Street, Carthage. A funeral service will be held in the Lundy Funeral Home Chapel following the calling hours at 1 pm with the Rev. Canon Samuel P. Lundy officiating.
Forist was born on May 19, 1958, in Alexandria Bay to the late Forist Brockway Sr. and Mary (Smith) Brockway. He graduated from Carthage High School. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army and served from 1976 to 1980, when he was honorably discharged. After his service in the Army, Forist worked a variety of jobs in the area. Most notably, he worked at Great Lakes Cheese as the lead technician for 22 years, retiring in January of 2020.
He married Karen Clemons on October 19, 1976 in Pamelia.
Forist was an avid hunter and he enjoyed doing anything where he could be outside and in the woods. He loved to spend his time riding his 4-Wheeler and motorcycle. Most of all, he loved being around his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Karen; his children, Jason (Jennifer) Brockway, Michael (Tera) Brockway, and Forist J. (Rebecca) Brockway; his grandchildren, Nicole, Abbygail, Jason, Jaydyn, John, Hunter, Eboni, Peyton, and Forist; his sisters, Gwenlyn Brockway, and Tammy (Johnny) Burch.
He is predeceased by his parents, Forist and Mary Brockway; and his siblings, Susan Brown and David Brockway.
