LAKELAND, FLORIDA- Eudora Blystone Kennehan Murray, 92, formerly of Philadelphia and Carthage, NY died on Tuesday January 13, 2015 at the Lakeland Regional Hospital in Florida.
Born on August 24, 1922 in Carthage, New York the daughter of the Late Harry and Merle Caswell Blystone. Eudora graduated from West Carthage High School in 1939 and then married Richard F. Kennehan on September 13, 1941. Mr. Kennehan died in Philadelphia, NY on February 16, 1963 at the age of 47. She and her husband Richard were co-owners of the Crescent Theater in Philadelphia, NY.
She married Alan B. Murray on June 18, 1966 at the home of her brother and his wife, Sherman & Dorothy Robinson, at the Noadiah Hubbard House, Champion, NY.
She was a former postal clerk in the Philadelphia Post Office, retiring upon her marriage to Mr. Alan Murray. She was a member of Carthage United Methodist Church, American Needlepoint Guild of Watertown, the Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Philadelphia and Carthage, Eustayantha Club in Carthage, LeRay de Chaumont Chapter, DAR, and a member of the Vermont Society of Mayflower Descendants, being the 11th generation from John Howland and the 12th from William Brewster.
Surviving are a son and daughter in law, Warren and Sophia Kennehan, Florida, three grandsons; Richard & Sheri, Springfield, Missouri, Edward & Kate, Fairborn, Ohio and Robert & Becky, Apollo Beach, Florida and her great-grandchildren; Caleb, Luke, Liam, William and Caroline Kennehan and her niece, Kay Robinson, Clearwater, FL.
She is predeceased by her husband Alan, in 2006 a half-brother, Sherman C. Robinson who died on August 16, 1969 at the age of 55 and her infant son, Alan Paul, who died shortly after birth in 1945.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage at a later date, with a graveside service to follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Carthage, NY.
