Elizabeth R. "Bette" Lanpher

Watertown - Elizabeth “Bette” R. Lanpher, 79, passed away at home on Monday, September 30th, 2024.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 4th, 2024, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 500 State Street, Carthage. A Funeral Service will take place at 12 p.m. in the Lundy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Canon Samuel P. Lundy officiating. A burial will take place following the funeral service at Brookside Cemetery in Watertown.

Bette was born on February 27th, 1945, in Watertown, the only child of the late George and C. Alberta (Martyn) Ruhm. She earned her undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and went on to earn her Masters Degree from SUNY Plattsburg, both degrees were in education. After her schooling, she taught at Carthage, Watertown, and Indian River school districts. She retired from Jefferson-Lewis Boces as a Special Education teacher.

She is survived by her children, Eric (Shannon) Lanpher of Rochester, Sarah (Alan) Goodyear of Lancaster, and Jennifer (Mark) Furman of Rouse’s Point; six grandchildren, Morgan, Mark II, Trevor, David, Taylor, and Eric Jr.; six great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents, George and C. Alberta.

Bette was a dedicated Syracuse University Basketball and Football fan. When she wasn’t watching her beloved Syracuse games, she was an avid reader, loved to play Sudoku, and was active in her local government, participating in the Jefferson County Planning Board and Zoning.
