COPENHAGEN - Debra Jean (Dolan) Beyer, 57, passed away peacefully with Lester, her loving husband of 39 years, at her side on October 22, 2017.
Debra was born on February 1, 1960 in Lowville, New York. She has resided in the Village of Copenhagen on Woodbattle Road since her marriage to Lester Beyer in 1978.
She is survived by her parents Ronald and Margaret Wood Dolan; two brothers: Patrick (Soncerae) Dolan, Sean (Kimberly) Dolan; one sister: Janice Dolan; two brotherin-laws: Mitch (Shirley) Beyer, Carl (Gloria) Beyer; three sister-in-laws: Ethel (Jeff) French, Judy Young; Denise (Dan) Young; three aunts: Mary (Alan) Wahl, Barbara (Glenn) Wilcox; Kathleen Wood; three uncles: John (Alice) Wood; Bill Dolan, Steve Dolan and many much loved nieces and nephews. Her sister Michelle Mickey Dolan preceded her in death.
Debra was a Master Black Belt Instructor with American Kang Duk Won Karate, impacting the lives of thousands of students over 25 years. With her husband Lester, Deb was often seen dogsledding across the Hill and raised over 600 Siberian Huskies spreading much joy to the region. Deb was a skilled carpenter, a homestead farmer and a faithful friend. She participated in many local triathlons, community runs and completed the Adirondack 90-miler canoe race. Debra, who assisted in every Copenhagen Memorial, Firemens and Christmas Parade since 1986 also volunteered at the Lewis County Fair, and the American Legion.
The family wishes to thank the countless people who have assisted Lester and Debbie Beyer during the past two years of Debs long illness. Debbies generous and positive spirit and her devotion to family and community means she will be greatly missed. Her death leaves a hole in our heart that nothing can heal; her love leaves a memory nothing can steal.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 5-8 PM at the Copenhagen Chapel, 10229 Washington St., Copenhagen. An additional calling hour will be held on Wednesday morning from 10-11 AM at the Chapel, with a funeral service immediately following at 11 AM.
