NATURAL BRIDGE - David Lyle Simser, 65, of Old State Road, died on Sunday, October 15, 2023, in Natural Bridge, NY.
He was born on January 3, 1958, in Carthage to Lyle A. & Mary Jean (Andress) Simser. He graduated from Carthage Central School in 1976 and served in the United States Navy from 1976-1977. He later worked as a Range Technician on Fort Drum, retiring this year, after 14 years of service.
David was a simple man, who enjoyed a variety of hobbies which included spending time in his shop tinkering with equipment that he used on his property, he loved the outdoors which included fishing, spending time with his family, watching NASCAR, and participating in motocross and snowmobiling.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Jean Simser, Natural Bridge; a daughter, Danielle Lenney, Norwood; his brothers, Gary Simser, Burlington, North Carolina, Terry (Judy) Simser, Rochester; Dale (Julie) Simser, Cary, North Carolina, Richard (Laurie) Simser, Natural Bridge; three sisters and their husbands, Sue (Jon) Betrus, North Port, Florida, Barb (Bill) Betrus, Naples, NY, and Marcia (Brian) Shambo, Harrisville. Also surviving are his two grandchildren, Makenna & Ethan King. He is predeceased by his father, Lyle, and his sister-in-law, Carol.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday afternoon, October 20, 2023, from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Servic, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 9:30 AM at St. James Catholic Church, State St., Carthage with Rev. Todd Thibault, Pastor, officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Natural Bridge.
