Barbara J. Moore

Harrisville – Barbara J. (Schermerhorn) Moore, age 50, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the Upstate Medical Hospital in Syracuse, NY. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 12:00 pm-4:00 pm at the Natural Bridge Fire Hall. The Burial will be held privately next Spring at the Hillside Cemetery in Natural Bridge. 

Born in Carthage, NY on April 22, 1974, she was the daughter of Mark D.& Cindy (Hall) Schermerhorn. Barbara graduated from Carthage High School and the Potsdam Nursing Assistant Program. She married Clifford “Charlie Brown” McIntosh on December 22nd, 1990. He died on January 20, 2015. She later married Jeffery A. Moore on June 29, 2018, in Harrisville, NY. 

She was a Nursing Assistant for many years. She loved taking care of others. She was a caregiver for her first husband. After he died, she continued and was a personal caregiver for the elderly. Then, in 2021, she took care of her own granddaughter’s medical complexes. Barbara worked for the DPAO, retiring early in April of 2024 due to her health issues. 

She is survived by her husband, Jeffery A. Moore, Harrisville; her daughter, Michelle (Dylan) O’Connor, Carthage; her parents, Mark & Cindy Schermerhorn, Harrisville; a step-daughter, Brittany Moore (Dylan Maney-Turner), Watertown, NY; her brothers, Mark Jr. (Theresa) Schermerhorn, Natural Bridge; Shawn & Christina Schermerhorn, Clayton, NY; a granddaughter, Sophia O’Connor, Carthage; along with many special nieces and nephews. 

Barbara was a member of the Harrisville Christian Church. She loved watching movies, music, and nature. Her favorite season was fall. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She would help others in any way she could, but she enjoyed most of all spending time with her granddaughter, Sophia. 

She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Ella & George Schermerhorn, and her first husband Clifford McIntosh. 

Her family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Children's Miracle Network, Barbara enjoyed helping kids and bringing a smile to their faces!
