NATURAL BRIDGE - Alfreda Dona Morgan, 77, 41852 NYS Route 3, died Tuesday morning, September 20, 2016 at the Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.
Born on June 6, 1939, at the former Carthage Hospital on State St., the daughter of Victor & Eva Evans Forbes. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1957. Alfreda married Dean R. Morgan on July 4, 1958 at the Natural Bridge United Methodist Church. Mr. Morgan died on April 29, 2008. She worked for Crown Zellerbach in Carthage for 17 years, before working at the Carthage Central Transportation Department as a driver for 12 years, retiring in 2001. She then continued her employment as a bus aide for disabled students.
She was a very active member of the Natural Bridge Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary for almost 60 year, and a member/treasurer of the Natural Bridge United Methodist Church. She was also the superintendent of the Sand Hill Cemetery in Natural Bridge. When her daughters were growing up she was very active in Girl Scouts of America.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Roy (Patty) Morgan, Natural Bridge; Tammy (Paul) Queary, Great Bend; and Deana Morgan Burns, Carthage. Also surviving is her sister, Donna Tessier, Shirley, Massachusetts, an Uncle, William Evans, Harrisville, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-granddaughters, with one great- grandson expected soon. Several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her long-time companion, Larry Dusharm, Carthage.
Calling hours will be held at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage, on Friday, September 23, 2016, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 -- 8:00 PM. A Funeral will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Natural Bridge, with a luncheon at the Natural Bridge Community Center afterward.
Her family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Natural Bridge Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary. Online condolences may be made at www.lundyfuneralhome.com
