CARTHAGE- Mary L. Carlin, age 76, died peacefully on January 29, 2024, under the care of her loving family and Jefferson County Hospice. She was born on September 22, 1947, in Utica, New York to the late Roscoe Francis Carlin & Lillian Gertrude Peek. She grew up on Raquette Lake, Inlet.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 1st, 2024 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. located at 500 State Street in Carthage, NY 13619. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:00 pm in the Chapel of the Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Thibault officiating, pastor of the St. James Catholic Church in Carthage.
Mary graduated from Old Forge in 1965 and later attended Jefferson Community College where she earned an Associate’s degree.
Mary was a waitress for many years and retired as a general manager at a hotel in Watertown. A marriage to Steven A. Campany ended in divorce.
She is survived by her children, Candy (Ray) Kinne, Carthage; Steven (Ruby) Campany, Carthage; Tracy Benware, Carthage; and Stephanie (John) Smith, Alabama. A brother, Stephen George Francis William & Sally Carlin. Her grandchildren, Aaren Lovelady, Dylan Parkis, Crysta Clark, Randi Lee Ryan, Andrew Neddo, Cody Campany, Tiana Withum, Sylvia Campany, Alyssa Campany, Georgina Ubriaco, Isabel Kinne, Nicholas Kinne; along with her great-grandchildren, Julias Parkis, Jacob Clark, Silas Clark, Chase Ryan, Linkin Neddo, Ryker Hoppel, Carleigh Passage, Fallon Ubriaco, Anthony Campany, Landen Reeves, Zoey Campany. Two very special sister-in-law’s Tina (Bob) Johnson and Maxine Clark; along with five nieces and three nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
Mary is predeceased by her parents and her brother Roscoe (Butch) Lynn Carlin; a deceased brother-in-law, Anthony (Tony) Campany; a niece, Vikki Lynn Carlin and a nephew, Jim Carlin.
Her hobbies included going to the casino and playing bingo, she loved anything Irish and always dreamed of going but never made it. Playing cards with her family and just being around all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she loved being with her family.
